Glass slippers and Paper cuttings

Obviously, Wartune has changed the way the chest-gamble works. Previously, you got an event shard + a random item from each chest. If you were lucky, you could get the rare treasure. If you weren't, you could still exchange it for the event shards. Not anymore. With the new system, you either open the chest, or exchange it directly. Personally, I like the change, because now people can't complain anymore that "X got lucky by opening 3 chests and me not by opening 200". Now it's your decision if you go gamble-mode or safe-mode. Also it's good because now you have to be smart to make the right decision. But, I also admit, that with this current system, you get less reward in average. So far, this is not a big tragedy, since we get  a lot more free chest than before. 

I already published an analysis about pumpkin carriage. My advice was to open the chests and gamble instead of doing the exchange - at least until you got a full cloth set - because the expected value is much better this way. Now the game gets more complicated with Valentine chests which give a glass slipper or a pumpkin carriage, and with the chinese new year chest which can either give those or a "paper cutting." So what's the optimal strategy now?


Unlike pumpkins, glass slippers can give you mounts. Mounts are usually the highest priority goal in chest events, since they give the most BR, and they are unique items which you can't get from other sources. So here, I recommend a different strategy.


First of all, Wartune was nice enough to give the free Valentine day's packs, including a Royal Steed. And they were even nicer to allow us to exchange the Royal Steed for a bunch of glass slippers. So if you had the Royal Steed, you could grab now the Chimera as well. Getting 235 more crystals for the Persian cat is more difficult, and depends entirely on your resources.


Lately, I used all my coins of ancestry to get mount whips. So I had 7000 whips to use, also had 2 mounts I got free since last hoof event, so I got 170 glass slippers. Now there are 2 options:
Use the glass slippers, and hope for persian cat (0,1% chance) or an apollo seal (which I can exchange for more glass slippers), or try to collect the 235.

I decided to do the following:
1. Try to get as many glass slippers with the current mount events. This included exchanging my amethyst for whips, and exchanging all remaining pumpkins for whips as well.
2. Save up the glass slippers and see how much I can get. The event still runs for 14 days, cloth event or anything else might come.
3. If, at the end, I miss only like 10-20 glass slippers, I buy them, good value for a +40 mount. If I miss more, I open the glass slippers, and hope for my luck.

Update: gem synthesise event tomorrow, so we can get a lot of free chests (hope you saved up the gems you get for valentin event).

Love thy mount

Today we get a love thy mount event in Wartune with a decreased reward - and additional lvl 1-3 gem pack (worth about 0.3 balens) instead of the usual 5 soul crystal (worth about 2 balens). Well, that is, if we suppose there will be useful a soul crystal event ever - if not, the gem pack is of course better :) 

But this poor man's love thy mount is still great - since everyone can claim again the stable rewards. I'm still not sure this is just some laziness from the programmers or an intentional feature, but honestly, I don't care - we got 10k free whips, yeee :) that's all what counts. And not only whips, but about 100 turkeys. I opened all, got 3 skeletal dragon cards, exchanged 2 back for drumsticks, and now I evolved my Apollo - for completely free! So yes, I'm happy today :)

Some people said Wartune is actually just a casino, and this seems true. For a very long time, I had no luck with the free chests, but some time ago I pop 5 blazing taurens from one series, and now this. If you play this game long enough, eventually you will be lucky, you will find some free mounts and other rare treasures from the free boxes, and it always feels good. 

At least my regret over my blunder during HoF is gone... I followed all my own instructions to increase BR (converted block/crit gems to mdef/pdef, switched sylph points to endurance, used all hoofs, soul seals, converted non-BR astrals to BR astrals, made all temp mounts). I reached some 372K BR this way. I entered Necropolis and used a Warrior's call, and I saw it could bring up my BR to 394K. (without potions/scrolls of which I knew for sure will not work). 6K more BR is pretty tough, if I use all my sepu and whips could have made like 3-4K more. Since the mods on forum said clearly WC will not work, I did not bother spending balens to get the final 3k (would have been expensive anyway). I did know there will be at least 50% chance that WC still does work, but would have hated to waste money if not. A few days later, during the tailoring event, I realized I never refined my weapons (since they give almost nothing to a mage) so that could have been the 3k BR is was looking for, so I missed the +100 mount. 
And to be honest, this is why I like this game so much still: because it is difficult enough that you can make mistakes and bad decisions. And you can best others by making less mistakes than they do.

A good Wartune deal

I would like to call your attention to a good deal, which is pretty rare lately in Wartune. They run a mini "big spender" event, with a not-so-great bonus (worth about 20% of what you spend). But they also have in the shop two mounts for 5995 balens (packed with 150 mount whips). I hope no one bought these mounts yesterday, when the event was not running.

What I recommend, buy ONE of the mounts, and claim all 3 prizes from the event. This way, you get a +30 mount, 150 mount whips, 100 sepulcrum and some other goodies for 5995 balens. So you get approx. +1 BR per every 8 balens spent. Please also do not forget, that with the recent whip+gem combo events, you can get a LOT of whips. I spent about 30-30k free whips in August and September, and have over 50k now. So maxing out mount whip is a reality now, and that increases the value of new mounts which increase the number of whips you can spend. (Although these are crappy ones, only +5 mount stats, but still something).

And referring to the article I posted yesterday:
If Wartune should have run these two 2-day events at the same time (mount sale + big spender), then

• people who bought the mounts yesterday wouldn't be frustrated (+customer satisfaction)
• people would buy BOTH mounts, not only one (+extra income for them)
